JOSH
GRUSS
FOUNDER & CEO
NEW YORK
Josh is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Round Hill Music.
Josh began his career in product development at Warner Music Group before moving into investment banking with Bear Stearns and later Gruss & Co. This combined experience in finance and music shaped Round Hill’s distinctive model, pairing creative credibility with rigorous investment and risk management.
He founded Round Hill in 2010 as streaming was beginning to reshape the music industry, with a vision to deliver predictable income and capital appreciation from high-quality, time-tested catalogs. Josh was one of the first to recognize the institutional qualities of music IP and to offer professional investors scalable access to what had traditionally been a fragmented and opaque market.
Since launch, Josh has led the acquisition of 196 catalogs on behalf of Round Hill and its investors, including rights linked to music from Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, James Brown, Madonna, Tim McGraw, Celine Dion and Bruno Mars.
Josh holds a B.A. from Trinity College and an M.B.A. from both Columbia Business School and London Business School. He is a Trustee and alumnus of Berklee College of Music and served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve, including active duty after the September 11 attacks. He has been recognized as a Billboard Change Agent and International Power Player and is a member of the Billboard Power List for his leadership in music rights investment. In 2021, he established the $1 million Round Hill Music Endowed Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing Music Business and Management degrees.
Outside the office, Josh spends time with family and pursues a number of interests in music, including playing guitar with Rubikon, which has toured with major rock acts, including The Cult and Candlebox.
